Uganda – Safaris, Wildlife & Cultural Experiences

african-elephant-safari

Uganda is home to half the world’s mountain gorillas. It is also one of Africa’s most overlooked safari destinations — and that is exactly what makes it special.

Uganda packs more biodiversity into a smaller space than almost anywhere else on the continent. Within a few hours of Kampala you can trek through ancient rainforest to sit with a family of mountain gorillas, watch lions climb fig trees in Queen Elizabeth National Park, stand at the edge of Murchison Falls as the entire Nile forces itself through a seven-metre gap, or kayak past hippos on Lake Bunyonyi. Uganda does not have the vast open plains of Kenya or Tanzania — what it has is intimate, accessible, and in many cases genuinely unique. We are based in Kampala. We know these parks personally, we work with licensed local guides, and we design every itinerary ourselves.

Being based in Uganda is not a marketing line — it means we can respond to changes on the ground, adjust itineraries in real time, and give you information that no online booking platform can.

Uganda offers one of Africa’s most diverse and intimate safari experiences.

OUR SIGNATURE EXPERIENCES

Experiences We Can Arrange

Gorilla Trekking – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: Uganda holds over half the world's remaining mountain gorillas. A single permit gives you one hour with a habituated gorilla family in their natural rainforest — an experience that consistently ranks among the most profound wildlife encounters on earth. Permits must be booked in advance and we handle the full application process.

Wildlife Safaris – Queen Elizabeth National Park: Queen Elizabeth NP sits on the equator between two lakes and hosts lions, elephants, hippos, buffalo, leopards, and the famous tree-climbing lions of the Ishasha sector. Boat safaris along the Kazinga Channel offer some of the best hippo and bird viewing in Africa.

Murchison Falls & Nile Boat Safari: The Nile forces its entire volume through a seven-metre gap to create the most powerful waterfall in Africa. Boat safaris from below give views of the falls, crocodiles, hippos, and elephants drinking along the banks — one of Uganda's most dramatic experiences.

Chimpanzee Trekking – Kibale National Park: Kibale has the highest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa. Guided treks through the forest lead to habituated chimpanzee communities — loud, active, and remarkably close. Often combined with a gorilla trekking itinerary as a multi-park trip.

Lake Bunyonyi Retreat: Uganda's most scenic lake — 29 islands, calm waters, and cool highland air. A natural recovery destination after intense safari days, and one of the few places in Uganda where you can simply slow down and take in the landscape.

Cultural & Community Experiences: Village visits to local communities near the national parks, traditional dance performances, craft markets, and interactions with Ugandan cultural groups including the Batwa pygmies near Bwindi — the original forest people of southwestern Uganda.

BEST TIME TO VISIT UGANDA
Uganda is a year-round safari destination. The two dry seasons — June to September and December to February — offer the best conditions for gorilla trekking, game drives, and road travel between parks. The wet seasons (March to May and October to November) bring lush green landscapes, fewer visitors, lower accommodation rates, and exceptional birdwatching as migratory species arrive. Gorilla trekking permits are available year-round but book up months in advance — especially for June to September.
